A trellis is a simple structure on which a vine can grow. A Trellis Community is a small group of people who are deeply committed to building their trellis for spiritual formation through apprenticeship to Jesus. These groups are an extension of our vision: “Walk with Jesus, Love Your Neighbor.” Meeting weekly for 8 months a year, these groups spend a month focused on each of 8 core spiritual practices. There are 4 vertical or “Walk With Jesus” practices (sabbath, prayer, scripture, fasting), and 4 horizontal or “Love Your Neighbor” practices (empowerment, hospitality, generosity, vocation). A 9th core practice is “community.” Community is fundamental aspect of all the other practices. Accordingly, we are pursuing growth in these the formational practices in a Trellis Community: a small group of apprentices who support one another around a table through prayer and friendship.
